A Burning Horizon (EP Promo)
The brainchild of Juz Cook, Tria Mera is the product of five years of hard work, dedication and carefully searching and selecting the right musicians to complete the current line-up.
Cook and the second founding member of the band, drummer Matt McRae, moved from Cairns to Brisbane to pursue their dream of creating a successful metal band and soon began to meet likeminded musicians who shared their love of all things metal. Ex Minus Life vocalist Scott Moss and bassist Mike Radeck were the next to join the band and they were soon followed by Ian Konrad who joined Cook on guitars.
Once a solid line-up was in place the band then set about making a name for themselves in the Brisbane music scene with their unique melodic speed metal sounds.
They soon proved that they were more than just talk as they took out the Triple J Unearthed competition and played their third ever live gig as the opening band on the Soundwave main stage at the Brisbane show of the 2011 tour.
The hype that followed the Soundwave performance still surrounds the band as they have become one of the hottest acts on the local scene in Brisbane playing local metal festivals and headlining their own shows in and around the city.
The skills and abilities of this talented band were once again recognised when the band was nominated in, and then won, the heavy category at the Queensland Music Awards in August 2011.
Unfortunately the Tria Mera journey ended for vocalist Moss in 2011 as he made the decision to leave the band due to his family and outside work committments. He and the band came to the decision amicably.
In September 2011 the search began for a new vocalist and the next few months saw many auditions and many different talents pass through the jam room.
Ex Down Royale vocalist Scott Niblock turned out to be the perfect fit for the position and it was announced at the start of 2012 that he would be the official replacement for Scott Moss.
Tria Mera are without a doubt one of the most professional and exciting bands on the local music scene, both on and off the stage, and they will be a force to be reckoned with in both Brisbane and beyond.
